What is Orthotics and Insole Assessment?
Orthotics and insoles are devices placed inside footwear to change support, cushioning, or pressure distribution. They may be considered for some people with foot symptoms, but they are not needed by everyone and do not replace an assessment of the cause of pain. At the clinic, a physiotherapy assessment can review your symptoms, activity, footwear, and foot function, then discuss whether an insole or orthotic option may be worth considering. Please call ahead to confirm whether a particular product or custom fitting service is available.
How Targeted Physiotherapy Restores Function
The physiotherapist reviews your history, symptoms, walking and standing tolerance, footwear, and relevant foot and ankle movement. Together, you can discuss practical options such as changing footwear, trying an off-the-shelf insole, or asking a suitable orthotics provider about a custom device. Exercise, activity changes, and other care may also be appropriate depending on assessment findings.
